Chinmaya Shishuvatika celebrated Pongal on 16.1.2026 with the aim of introducing children to the richness of Indian culture and tradition. The celebration helped the little ones understand the importance of gratitude towards nature, the Sun God, farmers and cattle, which is the essence of the Pongal festival.
The programme began with a prayer, followed by a brief explanation of the significance of Pongal. Teachers spoke about Bhogi, Thai Pongal, Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal, highlighting values such as thankfulness, sharing and respect for nature.Children participated enthusiastically in learning traditional songs and rhymes related to Pongal.
The colourful decorations and the kids dressed in traditional attire added a festive spirit to the celebration.
Through this celebration, children learned to appreciate Indian festivals and cultural values. Pongal celebration at Shishuvatika became a joyful learning experience, fostering gratitude, cultural awareness and respect for tradition
